Help / FAQ

iPhone & iPad · clear answers (screenshots coming)

Will my saves survive an app update?

Usually yes. Paths, jams, and settings stay on this device. Updating from the App Store / TestFlight keeps them, as long as you do not delete the app.

Deleting the app clears local saves. Reinstalling will not bring them back. There is no cloud backup yet.

What are the two kinds of save?

📷 Screenshot: Save path + Paths list
Name What Where
My paths Path + key + tempo + drums Build → Save; list on Paths
Jam A performance you can replay Record on Play/Build → save

Both are local. Deleting the app removes them. Paths share as card images; Jam shares as audio.

Does it sync across devices?

Not yet. Paths and jams stay on this device only.

After launch: one buy-once purchase; Family Sharing for your household. We do not add a separate “max 3 devices” lock. Future cloud sync would follow your account — not a second fee.

Which devices are supported?

  • OS: iOS / iPadOS 14.0+. One app for iPhone and iPad.
  • iPad is the main surface (including MIDI). iPhone works too — use the app, not Safari.
  • Mac / Android: later.

Are the drums real? What about piano?

  • Drums: real free sample hits (808 / 707 style).
  • Piano: soft synth voice, kept light for older iPads.

Why does my iPad speaker rattle?

Heavy kick on small speakers is common. Try headphones, or lower drum volume in More → Sound.

How do I connect MIDI?

Use the PianoAnyway app. Mobile Safari is not a reliable MIDI surface on iPhone / iPad.

App or website?

Play, MIDI, and saves live in the app. This site is for intro, Help, and Privacy.

Is this a course app?

No. It is a tool for paths, transpose, and sound — not a graded lesson subscription.

Can I search a song title for the official chart?

No licensed song library. Templates are common progression shapes (like 1–5–6m–4), not an official chart for a specific hit.

What are 123, Do-Re-Mi, and ABC?

The same path can show as numbers, solfege, or letters. Transpose keeps the path; letters follow the new key.

Blue keys look wide — must I press them all?

📷 Screenshot: Play — blue + gold keys

No. Blue keys are a guide voicing, not an exam. A few chord tones are enough. Gold edges are safer notes to explore. If the stretch feels wide, try a smaller shape (15 / 13 / 135) or an inversion.

What is Practice mode?

Light mini-games — hear a chord or pick by feel. Not a ranked exam, and nothing is uploaded.

“Home / tension” vs “start / leave / turn / home”?

  • Home / tension / … — how this chord feels in the key.
  • Start / leave / turn / home — story stickers on the path (tap to change), not auto song analysis.

Do you upload my recordings?

Not in the current app. Paths and jams stay on-device. Full text: Privacy.
